ASIA'S NEXT TOP MODEL SEASON 1 : EPISODE 9 WARNING this episode synopsis contains SPOILERS EP 9 : Beyond Comfort Number of girls remaining : 6 Eposide Sponsor: COTY (Playboy VIP for Her fragrance) Post Elimination The girls return from a surprising non-elimination week, but Stephanie and Sofia, both of whom were in the bottom 2, are struggling to keep their spirits up. Kate and Jessica decide to lighten the mood in the house by spontaneously jumping into the pool and dragging Aastha and Stephanie in as well. Aastha is uncomfortable as she doesn't know how to swim, while Stephanie hides the fact that she has a fear of deep waters due to a drowning incident in the past. Challenge At the COTY office, Joey greets the remaining 6 contestants and introduces them to a General Manager for COTY Asia, Fons Houtkamp. Joey talks about how as Top Model one must be able to endorse products and deliver a brand's advertising message effectively... and that is exactly what the girls will be tasked with today. They will each have to get creative, come up with a storyline for a fantasy segment for a Playboy VIP for Her Fragrance commercial, and get themselves styled and act in that TVC. There's something that they will have to work into their concept too... a male model! They will each take turns working with the same male model and direct him for their fantasy segment! Joey then tells the girls the plan of action: The girls are first driven to a costume shop where they have half and hour to pick out costumes and props for themselves and their male model. Once they are done, they must head to a studio where a make-up and hair stylist are at the girls' disposal. The girls must each come up with a look and style for themselves in keeping with their story idea for the fantasy segment. Then in front of a camera, the girls must direct the action and act out their fantasy segment against a green screen to which a picture will be digitally inserted in post production. As they act out their story lines, Joey and Fons watch on and announce a winner who best encapsulated the brand image through their fantasy. REWARD: Playboy VIP for Her fragrance hamper and a collector's edition swarovski perfume bottle. The winner also wins 2 tickets for the Universal Studios VIP tour CHALLENGE WINNER: Helena Photo-shoot The girls arrive at the Gallery Hotel where Daniel confirms Aastha's and Stephanie's worst fear, an underwater shoot! They will be donning the couture outfits of high fashion designer Michael Cinco as they attempt to evoke the grace of a mermaid. And capturing their beauty this week will be underwater photography specialist Aaron Wong, who explains to the girls that not only do they have to overcome the lack of verbal communication when they are underwater, they also have to contend with the weightlessness concept of the shoot. This will be the toughest photo shoot the girls have faced to date in the competition. Brief / Look: Underwater photo-shoot Designer / Clothes: Filipino designer Michael Cinco -- mermaid inspired jeweled tops and a long skirt Props: Long-haired wigs Location: Gallery Hotel Pool Stylist: Daniel Boey Photographer: Aaron Wong Elimination This is an elimination episode for the remaining 6 girls. Jessica is on a roll as she clinches her third consecutive best photo. Sofia bags the runner up best photo, although the judges deemed her photo to be yet another lucky shot. Kate gets second runner up best photo due to the energy emitted through her photo despite not nailing the brief. Aastha, who overcame her fears and inability to swim, also survives the week, leaving close friends Helena and Stephanie in the bottom 2. Eventually it was Helena that got the boot as her photo completely missed the brief of being a couture mermaid.
