On the 25th of November 2011, The Luna Palace Cinema in Leederville, Perth, Western Australia presented a special Q&A screening of THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE 2: FULL SEQUENCE with the films star, Laurence R Harvey as a special guest. This beautiful cinema sold out and was packed to the rafters with 500 of Perth's most enthusiastic horror fiends. Throughout the screening people laughed, cheered and whooped it up. There did not seem to be any masturbating amongst the audience, no reported incidents of forced or uninvited fondling, no shitting in each others mouths, no severing of knee caps, nor has there been any noticeable upsurge in violent or sexual crime amongst the population of that City. Could it be that the 500 who came to see the film actually got it? Could it be that they were intelligent enough to understand the film to be parody? That they could tell the difference between reality and fiction? Surely not, surely the the ripple effect of this film is yet to go unreported - surely it is only a matter of time before society pays for allowing such filth into the public arena? Three days later three very well informed ladies who make up the Australian Classification Review Board, made the informed decision to ban this film - Their reason? To save the poor slobs of Australia from witnessing material of a gratuitous and exploitative nature that would surely turn them vicious creeps. A week after the lovely ladies of the Classification Review Board made their decision, the distributor, Monster Pictures, submitted a version of the film with 30 seconds of cuts to the Classification Board - this version was passed with an R 18+ certificate. We at Monster Pictures feel that the film holds up perfectly despite the very minimal modifications and we would like to thanks these same women, and the Christian lobby groups who brought it to their attention, for keeping the film in the press and affording it publicity that we most certainly could not afford to buy.
