Réalisée par le photographe italien Mario Sorrenti, cette 39ème édition de l'almanach le plus connu du monde a été baptisée Swoon. "Dans Swoon, j'ai mis les corps en contact direct avec la nature, qui les accueille comme s'ils étaient son prolongement, dans une série d'images où la pierre et les rochers, la terre et les troncs d'arbre, le ciel et la mer se transforment en des scénographies qui accueillent les corps" explique Mario Sorrenti. L'Italien a d'ailleurs choisi la Corse pour réaliser les 25 photos dont 18 en noir et blanc qui composent le millésime 2012 de "The Cal". Pour cette édition, il a fait appel à neuf mannequins et trois actrices parmi lesquelles Kate Moss et Milla Jovovic.
