Scattered groups of ethnic Hmong have hidden in the remote mountains of Laos for more than 30 years, afraid to come out. Many have not seen the modern world, and exist with little food, scavenging in the jungle. The CIA trained and funded many Hmong hill tribes in Laos from 1961 to 1973 to fight communism. When America withdrew from the conflict most Hmong were left alone to face the might of the invading North Vietnamese Army. The Royal Lao Government fell to the communists and many Hmong became outcasts in the country they fought to defend.

Ethnic Hmong Lao refugees explain why they fled South East Asian country Laos to Thailand's refugee camp Phetchabun. (Ban Huay Nam Khao, or White Water refugee camp)
Most of the them lived for over 30 years in hiding, attacked and chased by ever increasing military forces, Laotian and Vietnamese soldiers, to this day! Over 1400 DVD of HUNTED LIKE ANIMALS were sent to governments, and the UN system.
Even so the UN has no access to the people-in-hiding, or the refugees - HUNTED LIKE ANIMALS brings their voices to them.

This is an excerpt of a 715 minute long documentary:
This clip is especially sad- a little Hmong Lao boy, tortured by soldiers - inside of LAOS, among testimonies made by the refugees:
The ethnic Hmong Lao refugees who fled from Laos to Thailand explain what the military inside of Laos did to them, while they were running and hiding, half starved, from the attacks by the soldiers. Some footage in the 75 minute-long educational documentary "Hunted Like Animals" was filmed by the Hmong-in-hiding themselves- in the mountainous conflict areas of Laos. (Cameras were smuggled in, and tapes out of the conflict area by Fact Finding Commission.)
Thousands of Hmong Lao fled from Laos to Thailand - starting 2004- to escape increasing military attacks inside of Laos, and settled in Thailand's Ban Huay Nam Khao Refugee Camp.
Over 1300 DVD of HUNTED LIKE ANIMALS were disseminated to governments, UN system and NGOs. Even so diplomats and UN officials has no access to the people-in-hiding inside of Laos, or to the refugees in Thailand's refugee camp - HUNTED LIKE ANIMALS brings the voices of the desperate Hmong Lao directly to them. The refugees want the world to know what they have endured, and speak on behalf of many thousands of Hmong left behind -- who are still trapped inside of remote mountainous jungle areas, chased, attacked, tortured, mutilated, killed, starving -- AT THIS VERY MOMENT !!!!!

The area that is now Laos was once made up of several small kingdoms, often a battleground between the more powerful Kingdom of Thailand and Empire of Vietnam. The states were first united under the French protectorate as part of the Union of French Indochina with Cambodia and the divided Vietnam of Tonkin, Annam and Cochinchina. In 1953 the country officially became the Kingdom of Laos but was soon torn by the war in Vietnam. At one point 3 different Lao princes led 3 factions; royalist, neutralist and communist. In 1975 the monarchy was overthrown by the communist Pathet Lao who declared the country the Lao People's Democratic Republic. The last King, Savang Vathana, died in a communist concentration camp. The Lao Royal Family in exile continues to advocate for the restoration of the constitutional monarchy and an end to the communist dictatorship.
