Michelle Thompson, who suffers from Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome, thought she was just too demanding for men and would never find the man of her dreams. But she has been with her neighbour Andrew Carr, 32, for the past six months and he's as keen for sexual intercourse as she is and they make love 10 times a day. "Andrew has changed my life. I'm no longer looking for a cure for my orgasms - I've found it," Michelle told The News of the World newspaper in the UK. "Now I have a huge grin on my face all the time, and it's not just because of the orgasms." Michelle's rare condition means she always craves sex and can climax at any time anywhere. She even had to quit a job in a biscuit factory because the machines kept setting her off. "I know I'm lucky to have so many orgasms when there are women who have never had one. But the condition has ruined my love life," she said. Michelle's first boyfriend bowed out after a few months saying he couldn't keep up with her demands. And over the years several others gave up - with one telling her he was a man not a machine. She dated one man for five years but "by the time we broke up, he was exhausted, he left as a defeated man". Then in May she met Andrew, who is divorced, who lives over the road in Nelson, Lancashire, England. Back in October, folks were buzzing about AMP energy drink's iPhone application, "Before You Score," a social media tool that let dudes share their sexual exploits on Twitter and Facebook (you know, like a modern-day "Dear Penthouse"). Now, it's all about Burger King's Shower Babe. The British ad campaign includes a Web site targeted toward men 18 and older that features a daily video billed as "the world's first guilt-free shower-cam." Just click play to watch a tone-deaf girl in a bikini "shake her bits to the hits." Each day, viewers can also vote on what song the little lassie will sing tomorrow and what bikini she will don (I voted for "You're So Vain" and the saucy lil' number with the fried eggs on the top). There's been much muttering in the blogosphere about the decidedly misogynistic nature of the ad campaign, to which a Burger King spokesman responded: "Our research showed that breakfast is a male-centric audience for Burger King; it doesn't resonate as well with women — we are targeting the people who are buying breakfast." Sarah Power, marketing director U.K. and Eire for Burger King added to this sentiment in a statement: "Our shower-cam gives hungry Brits the chance to watch the BK Shower Girl singing in the shower every day to help them work up an appetite for our fantastic new breakfast range." While the claim that women don't dig breakfast is rather dubious, BK stuck to their guns in making this campaign as male-centric as possible. The Web site also features a contest, the grand prize, of course, being a date with the Shower Babe. Runners-up will receive a case of "proper man toiletries," including the infamous Burger King Flame cologne (which smells like meat. Yum). While some may find the very existence of the Shower Babe to be an affront to decades of progress (see the below audition video for even more anger-inducing fodder), the campaign is most likely going to achieve its end: Reaching as many eyes as possible. That is, of course, if it doesn't meet the same fate at the "Before You Score" app.

In the paper Robots, Men And Sex Tourism, Ian Yeoman and Michelle Mars of the Victoria Management School in Wellington imagine a world in which sex tourism has become respectable and human trafficking and the spread of STDs stemmed by replacing human prostitutes with lifelike sex robots. Made with bacteria-resistant materials, these robots will ensure safe sex and may be seen as a more ethical way of hiring a prostitute. Although prostitutes themselves may not be keen on the developing technology, researchers believe robot sex workers can bring a level of respectability to the prostitution game. The paper describes a fictitious brothel in Amsterdam called Yub-Yum where, for a little more than $8,000 (£6,200), visitors are "guaranteed a wonderful and thrilling experience as all the androids are programmed to perform every service and satisfy every desire."

David Levy wrote a book in 2007, titled Love and sex with robots, talking about the evolution of human-robots relationship, sex with robots becoming a reality in five years time, and marriage with robots becoming a reality in 2050. A South Korean professor, Kim Jong-Hwan, has developed a series of artificial chromosomes that will allow the robots to feel lusty, and could eventually lead to them reproducing. With all these present technology in mind, who knows what will happen in the future?
