His mother told a local newspaper that she already knew about her son's addiction and although she planned on him to get special help, her decision came too late. Katt Williams says he wasn't really sorry about anti-Mexican rant made during Arizona show Controversial comedian Katt Williams has issued an apology for making derogatory statements about Mexicans when responding to a heckler at a comedy concert in Phoenix. "My remarks were not meant to be offensive," Williams said. "I want to apologize if my comedy act was taken out of context." Katt Williams has apologized for some anti-Latino remarks he made at a recent comedy performance in Phoenix. The routine, with profuse obscene language, has been uploaded to various Web sites. The incident on August 27 began after a Mexican audience member began to jeer Williams. The comedian responded with a racist tirade, which was faithfully recorded by an audience member and uplifted to various video Web sites on the Internet. The routine used much profane language, such as "[Expletives] think they can live in this country and pledge allegiance to another country," he told the man. "Do you remember when white people used to say 'Go back to Africa,' and we'd have to tell them we don't want to? So if you love Mexico, [expletive], get the [expletive] over there. "We were slaves [expletive.] You just work like that as landscapers." Williams then sang the National Anthem and led the crowd in chanting "USA! USA!" Indeed, he differentiates between Mexicans and Mexican-Americans during the routine. Many people within the Latino community are not amused. "My challenge to him will be for him to return to show his face, to show his commitment to the Latino community and his commitment to civil rights," Rev. Jarrett Maupin told CNN. "I have compassion for Katt Williams. It's up to him to let the community know if he's going through some personal or professional challenges." Williams has been the subject of controversy before. In November 2009, Williams was arrested by police while working on a film in Coweta County, Georgia. He was accused of stealing $3,500 worth of coins and jewelry. Police charged Williams with burglary and criminal trespass. The following month, Williams was questioned and detained by police again in Coweta County, Georgia after an altercation in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Police issued a warrant to search Williams' semi-truck for evidence, but found nothing. Williams maintains that police destroyed thousands of dollars worth of filming equipment for no reason.
