Hello Hello! So this is my "attempt" at the World Record for Fastest Talker. I say attempt because an official has to be on hand to make it certain - so technically I can't give myself the title without the authorization. I had a different video posted last night but because I wasn't talking at the beginning - people think I sped the whole video up. Which, I understand, could be said about this one too - but I assure you it is not. The current world record is held by a man at 637 words per minute (this man has held the record for the past 20 years now). Plenty of errors and not my best result (I made 133 earlier today), but I'm still thankful for what I got. My 3 ingredients to successful typing: 1--Prayer-to keep in perspective 2--The DVORAK key layout; with the vowels on one side and the consonants on the other, it makes typing much easier (and safer, even!) 3--A buckling spring "Unicomp Spacesaver" keyboard. The spring-loaded keys rebound much faster than do modern "rubber dome" keyboards, a great asset in speed typing. 4-Practice. I spend a lot of time at the computer desk. Again--my typing might not be on par with some of the Youtube elites, but at least you get to see a nifty keyboard. (less)

I received a new toy in the mail not too long ago, so I figured I'd whip up a (very impromptu) video of it! This is the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate. It's a mechanical keyboard, which means that rather than a typical membrane surface below the keys (rubber domes, basically), it uses mechanical 'switches' to actuate keypresses. In this case, they are "Cherry MX Blue" switches. Apparently there are lots of different types of switches, but I honestly don't have enough experience with mechanical keyboards to give a crap. Long story short, I enjoy this keyboard quite a bit. Time permitting, I'll have a detailed overview of the keyboard uploaded for your viewing pleasure, but for now I'm settling with a typing test/sound check. Also, I apologize for the hastiness and choppy editing in this video. I'm on Windows 7 (honestly haven't toyed with Ubuntu in quite some time) and am using lots of video software that I don't care to become familiar with until I find more accommodating applications. For fun I've tested voice recognition at a very high speed. This is almost 200 words per minute with 100% accuracy, using Dragon Naturally Speaking. In real life I never dictate this quickly because I can't think of what I want to say this quickly! (less)

I unofficially break Barbara Blackburn's endurance typing record of 150 wpm over 50 minutes. This was actually the third time I attempted a 50 minute typing test. The first time, I was accidentally not logged in, and the second time, my attempt to capture it failed, but this attempt succeeded. All three times I averaged 174 wpm, which shouldn't be surprising because when you type for this long, you will average whatever your actual speed is, and given that my all-time TypeRacer and NitroType averages are also between 173 and 174 wpm, it is clear that 174 wpm is my real average. I used labs.jphantom.com to measure my typing speed on the FrogPad. In the first run I achieved 84WPM with 4 mistakes, in the second run I got 87WPM with 5 mistakes. A bit too many mistakes for my taste, but well, I was a bit nervous and hadn't enough time to rerun the test. (less)

140 words per minute - 731 keystrokes per minute - 100% accuracy - ranked at number 84 of 298250 scores on that site. Broken down it becomes 2.3 words per second and 12.2 keystrokes per second. My personal best (while still maintaining accuracy). I use a standard layout QWERTY keyboard, it's cheap, old, and broken in. I've used the same one for years and so I'm very accustomed to the feel of it. Yes, this was just for fun, and yes, this is really me! You can briefly see my digital piano when I remove the camera from the tripod. Here's the website where I took the test: speedtest.10-fast-fingers.com Try it out, it's a lot of fun! It comes in many different languages as well. Though I don't type that fast for everyday purposes, probably around 80-100 WPM. My hands would cramp up if I typed at 140 WPM all the time.
