Vielmehr nutzte er die Gelegenheit für eine humorvolle, lebensbejahende Rede über seine persönlichen Lebensweisheiten. Seine Vorlesung wurde innerhalb weniger Tage von mehr als einer Million Menschen aus dem Internet heruntergeladen. Pausch wurde in Fernsehsendungen eingeladen; zahlreiche Artikel widmen sich seinem Schicksal.
