04/30/2011 The skydive accident that caused the loss of my left arms feeling due to nerves being severed from spine, which I am still waiting for the amputation confirmation date. All I remember is looking over at the pit and seeing the trailer and wanting to avoid it. Upon exiting the plain the winds on the ground were at 11 mph due west. Coming in on landing I did a pen check and was being blown backwards from the west and crosswinds from the north. The winds at the time of the crash were all over, varying from west and north anywhere from 20 mph to gust of 28 mph. The GoPro camera I was using makes it look like I am farther away from the trailer than i really am. I had a small window of time to make a decision attempt to miss the trailer or due a low turn and pitch myself into the ground with a down draft and traveling at around 45 mph. I am here posting this video so as far as I'm concerned it was the right decision at the time. In truth, I PROBABLY SHOULDN'T BE ALIVE... Skydive With NO Parachute Stunt and SURVIVES! A STUNTMAN has made aviation history by becoming the first skydiver to land without using a parachute. Gary Connery, 42, from Oxfordshire, leapt from a helicopter 1.5km above Henley-on-Thames in southern England, then glided down using a specially adapted wing suit before landing on a "runway" of 18000 cardboard boxes. "It was so comfortable, so soft. My calculations obviously worked out and I'm glad they did," he said after the jump. His wife Vivian said she was "relieved it's all over". To prepare for the jump he underwent weeks of intensive training in Switzerland and Italy, leaping from mountains and cliffs to perfect his wing suit glide angle. As part of the preparations, Mr Connery studied the flight of kite birds and how they use their tails to control their flight direction. "Kites steer by twisting their tail one way or another and I'll be doing the same," he explained before the jump. Mr Connery said he "got a really nice exit. I started to fly very, very stable very quickly but there must have been some turbulence. "I was experiencing a lot of bouncing in that flight that I hadn't experienced before, so it was a little weird. But these suits are amazing. There is so much stability in them." Mr Connery made his first parachute jump at 23 after joining the Army. He went on to become a professional stuntman, completing 880 skydives and 450 base jumps. Daredevils and risk-takers, the gauntlet has been thrown ... from 13-miles up. Felix Baumgartner, the 42-year-old who plans to break the speed of sound with a jump from the stratosphere later this summer, completed his first test this week, skydiving in a space suit from 13 miles up in the sky—about 5 miles higher that a jumbo jet usually flies. Baumgartner pulled off this high-flying stunt by heading aloft in his custom designed Red Bull Stratos capsule attached to a 100-foot-wide helium balloon. In a fully pressurized jump suit, he launched himself into a free fall that lasted nearly four minutes and propelled him to speeds of over 360 miles per hour. The high-flying act is just a dress rehearsal for Baumgartner's ultimate goal: to jump from an altitude of 23 miles, a free fall that will take him past Mach 1. That leap would beat a previous record held by US Air Force Captain Joe Kittinger, who jumped from nearly 20 miles up in 1960. OK, dude, put a diving board on that Red Bull Capsule and a kiddy pool on the ground, and we're talking business. (less)

The elderly lady, whose name is Laverne from California wanted to skydive as her last wish.But she was very reluctant to jump from the plane. Her tandem co-diver Steve made sure that her last wish will be fulfilled by making 125mph parachute dive. Due to her fear Laverne was caught in awkward position but thankfully the landing was safe and Granny got her last wish fulfilled. (less)
