With Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream as her inspiration, Payal Singhal's "Indian Summer Night Dream Resort Bridal 2012" line at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 was a sensuous and beauteous dream to behold on the ramp. Creating ethereal resort and fabulous bridal wear, Payal delighted the audience by displaying a line of dresses, gowns, lehengas, sari and salwar/kurtas to melodious music. To add to the dazzle and glamour of the bridal wear, the colour choice was apt as blush, mint, indigo, purple, sand, emerald and turmeric glided down the ramp. Sensuous georgette, silk, velvet, Banaras brocades, Jamawar, tulle and taffeta glistened with expert pita kora work, filigree with gotta and the designer added moti and crystals which created the ultimate glamorous look for the creations. The crystal encrusted yokes, bodices, shoulders, necklines and sleeves dazzled under the ramp lights. The slate grey satin gown with a velvet bolero and pita kora lotus embroidery, the blush tulle and silk Banaras kalidaar gown, taffeta gathered tunic with crystal and filigree work on skirt and the final pale blue tulle sherwani with purple satin churidars were stunners. Adding an interesting twist there was the kalidaar lehenga-sari with resham and rhinestone buttis matched with an ornate choli and velvet ghagra. Lit glass lanterns lined the ramp along with crystal edged bunches of gold and silver branches from the ceiling of the Ballroom at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The backdrop was a mirror work arch and the stage was set for a superb fashion presentation. Creating dazzling glamour on the ramp Bollywood's famous designer, Vikram Phadnis presented by INK Infrastructure unleashed a fusion line for Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012. There was a profusion of colour, texture, shape, and silhouettes as Vikram brought a vibrant Indo-West line of perfect resort bridal wear. Choosing a mélange of colours, the designer opted for neutral creams, glitzy gold and deep black with just a touch of prints to add drama. The fabrics moved from sheer net to seductive georgette, luxurious linen, soft voiles and regal pashminas. Keeping true to his concept Vikram had a variety of silhouettes that ranged from cigarette pants, palazzos, skirts to kalidaars worn with interestingly styled bundis or at times structured jackets and capes. Saris were edged with broad gold borders, while lace was luxuriously used to make it a feminine offering on the hemlines, cuffs, bodices and even the lehengas and kurtas. Swirling full circle kurtas, raja coats with ornate embroidery, sequined cholis, will-power wide legged jumpsuits, corsets teamed with lace embroidered saris, kurtas with long sleeved boleros and multi gathered anarkalis were a vision of beauty. To celebrate 25th years in menswear the iconic Savile Row tailor Ozwald Boateng is closing London Fashion Week with a spectacular show held in Screen 1 of the Odeon Leicester Square on Wednesday 22nd September 2010. Boateng also used the opportunity to exclusively preview the documentary film 'A Man's Story', which candidly charts his business and personal life throughout the late nineties and the noughties. The invitees walked down the garden path of the Grand Hyatt lined with sweet smelling mogras and hundreds of candles, through fragrant flowers and trees, onto the venue to witness one of the most glamorous events of the year. The Grand Finale presented by Rohit Bal, designer par excellence and the ultimate Master of Craft and Creative Design, was a mind blowing collection inspired by Lakmé Absolute Fast & Fabulous woman to end the Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012. The only words that can summarize the event were magnificent, opulent, glamour, design and absolute beauty. Akin to Rohit Bal's inimitable style, Lakmé for the first time hosted the Grand Finale at the lawns of the Grand Hyatt. Pristine ivory pillars served as a backdrop for stunning models that walked down the ramp in mesmerizing creations in a selection of elegant fabrics, colours and silhouettes. Five carved white cones lined the ramp while numerous hung from the branches of the trees surrounding the lawns. The journey of Ibn Batuta one of the most famous globe trotters in the world was the theme that inspired Pia Pauro's collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012. Calling the line "Shamal" which is the name of a north-westerly wind blowing over the Middle East deserts; Pia created quite a storm on the catwalk. As her exotic mysterious yet daring line of women's wear moved through countries like Morocco, Mamluk Empire, the Arabian Peninsula and finally the Byzantine Empire, the creations reflected the glory of an era gone by, featuring the fabulous hand embroidery with different techniques. Divided into four parts, Pia stayed firm on the tribal concept, but separated the sections into bling, rocks, de Luxe and tunics. Splashes of neon covered the ramp as garments in vibrant hues of indigo, orange, naturals, pink, electric blue, dazzled the viewers. The fabrics matched the youthful tones as jerseys, chiffons, georgettes, cottons and silks were beautifully created into cool sundresses, comfy tunics, flowing kaftans, elegant saris, slinky evening wear and the designer of course added on resort wear like swimsuits, beach bags and handmade accessories. There was vibrant colourful energy as the show opened with a fresh white embroidered yoke cotton blouson batwing mini. Soon there were exotic mirror work waistcoats with beautiful embroidery, while coins played a major role as they edged fan sleeves or were splashed on sexy minis.
