(WCCO) A two-car collision killed a Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted High School senior and critically injured two other students Wednesday evening. Driver not badly hurt. The crash happened around 6 pm at the intersection of County Road 6 and Highway 55 near Annandale, Minn. Four students were coming back from watching a section track meet. Their car had stopped at a stop sign on County Road 6 and then was broadsided by a pickup truck headed east on Highway 55. Madeysen Kleve, 18, a passenger in the car, was killed in the crash. She was an honor student set to graduate this Sunday and a candidate for Howard Lake Royalty. Two other students in the car were seriously injured. Kacie Carlsted, 18, is in serious condition at St. Cloud Hospital. She is the valedictorian of her senior class. Mitchell Bayerl is in critical, but stable condition at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He is the salutatorian of the senior class. Brie Barfknecht, the 17-year-old driver of the car, had minor injuries. Mitch was ejected out of the car during the crash. The other 3 were all wearing seatbelts. For Madeysen Kleve's parents, instead of getting ready for graduation they are planning a funeral. They say it's hard to believe their little girl is gone.
