What is Clomid? Clomid is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that is in the class of drugs that includes drugs such as tamoxifen which is used in breast cancer. And so what ends up happening is your pituitary gland is blinded to the response of the ovaries so the pituitary gland continues to secrete FSH. This is my first ttc vlog and I just wanted to tell you a little about myself. My husband and I have been ttc for a year now. We started April 2010. We have had a lot of ups and downs through this process. After going off the pill I was not getting my period for months, knowing that something was wrong I went to the doctor. After having an ultrasound she told me that I had PCOS. I had never heard of this before and I had no clue what it was. This was 8 months ago. I have learned a lot in that time. I am now taking metformin and clomid to try to regulate my cycle. I have been on the metformin for 8 months in my video I said that metformin was for insulin, but in fact it is a glucose medication.....opps...sorry about that.......I misspoke. I am now in my 3rd clomid cycle at 100mg. I took it cycle day 5-9, and am currently on CD 11. Crossing my fingers that this cycle will be the one for us. I hope that by sharing my experiences I am able to help others and that I can also learn from this as well. I'd like to know that there are other people to talk to and that others know what you are going through. It's so hard to explain this to your friends that have no idea of the pain that exists. I want to spread the word about infertility, and then maybe we wont be suffering in silence. (less)
