(more)Apple's founder, chairman and former CEO, Steve Jobs has died. He passed away on Wednesday, October 5, at the age of 56, after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer, which included a liver transplant. A short statement by Apple said that "Apple has lost a visionary and a creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple." On August 25, Jobs resigned as CEO of Apple, leaving a letter to Apple's board of directors naming Tim Cook as his successor. The announcement of Jobs's death comes a day after Apple's new CEO unveiled an all-new Apple product, the iPhone 4S.

(more)(CNN) -- Steve Jobs, the visionary in the black turtleneck who co-founded Apple in a Silicon Valley garage, built it into the world's leading tech company and led a mobile-computing revolution with wildly popular devices such as the iPhone, died Wednesday. He was 56. The hard-driving executive pioneered the concept of the personal computer and of navigating them by clicking onscreen images with a mouse. In more recent years, he introduced the iPod portable music player, the iPhone and the iPad tablet -- all of which changed how we consume content in the digital age. More than one pundit, praising Jobs' ability to transform entire industries with his inventions, called him a modern-day Leonardo Da Vinci. "Steve Jobs is one of the great innovators in the history of modern capitalism," New York Times columnist Joe Nocera said in August. "His intuition has been phenomenal over the years." Jobs' death, while dreaded by Apple's legions of fans, was not unexpected. He had battled cancer for years, took a medical leave from Apple in January and stepped down as chief executive in August because he could "no longer meet (his) duties and expectations." Born February 24, 1955, and then adopted, Jobs grew up in Cupertino, California -- which would become home to Apple's headquarters -- and showed an early interest in electronics. As a teenager, he phoned William Hewlett, president of Hewlett-Packard, to request parts for a school project. He got them, along with an offer of a summer

(more)bit.ly Apple Founder Steve Jobs Resigns As CEO but will remains as a chairman.Tim Cook take over steve Jobs positions. bit.ly After more than a year with the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S--announced Tuesday by Apple CEO Tim Cook--seems a bit, well, underwhelming. The hardware announced today offers no design overhaul. Apple upgraded the phone's camera from a 5-megapixel sensor to an 8-megapixel sensor, though, and the iPhone 4S will use the same dual-core A5 chip that the iPad 2 does. 4G capability? Forget it--Apple isn't going that route this time. We already knew about iOS 5 and its features for a while, but the inclusion of the Siri voice-activated software was a nice surprise. That isn't to say that I'm dissatisfied. Last year's iPhone 4 still holds up among smartphones released this year, and the internal enhancements in the iPhone 4S, while a bit late to the game, are certainly welcome. The iPhone 4S is a good phone that has become even better, but I certainly wouldn't call it "revolutionary." And, on second thought, Apple didn't either.

(more)Steve Jobs Biography - Documentary 1 of 6 Apple Founder Dead at 56 Steven Paul "Steve" Jobs (February 24, 1955 - October 5, 2011) was an American computer entrepreneur and inventor. He was co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Apple Inc. Jobs also previously served as chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios; he became a member of the board of directors of The Walt Disney Company in 2006, following the acquisition of Pixar by Disney. He was credited in Toy Story (1995) as an executive producer. In the late 1970s, Jobs — along with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Mike Markkula and others — designed, developed, and marketed one of the first commercially successful lines of personal computers, the Apple II series. In the early 1980s, Jobs was among the first to see the commercial potential of Xerox PARC's mouse-driven graphical user interface, which led to the creation of the Macintosh. After losing a power struggle with the board of directors in 1985, Jobs resigned from Apple and founded NeXT, a computer platform development company specializing in the higher-education and business markets. Apple's subsequent 1996 buyout of NeXT brought Jobs back to the company he co-founded, and he served as its CEO from 1997 until August 2011. In 1986, he acquired the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm Ltd which was spun off as Pixar Animation Studios. He remained CEO and majority shareholder at 50.1 percent until its acquisition by The Walt Disney Company in 2006

(more)SAN FRANCISCO: Apple founder Steve Job lost the battle to pancreatic cancer Thursday with the company he created and led for decades announcing his death in a brief statement. "We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today," the company's board of directors said in a statement. "Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve." Jobs who was 56 years old, died peacefully said his family. He is survived by his wife Laurene, with whom he had three children. The passing of Steve Jobs left people around the world "iSad" on Thursday, with countless mourners typing out their grief on the handheld Apple gadgets that have transformed modern life. Tributes poured in from notables from US President Barack Obama to Bill Gates, but it was the scale of the outpouring from ordinary people around the world, hammering out characters on Jobs's own inventions, that was staggering. As word spread that Jobs had died of cancer at the age of 56, messages tagged "iSad" and "RIP Steve Jobs" joined other references to the Apple co-founder among the hottest topics at Twitter. Others made their way to state-of-the-art Apple retail stores, another user-friendly innovation pioneered by Jobs. In Tokyo, employees observed a silent prayer before opening the doors to customers on Thursday. And in front of an Apple store in Manhattan, Gregory Littley placed two

We at Next Media Animation mourn his passing and celebrate his life. Our thoughts are with his family and his four young children. Apple and Steve Jobs have featured prominently in our animations. Steve Jobs made the world fall in love with and embrace technology. Much of what Next Media Animation does -- indeed what any media company does -- would be impossible were it not for Steve Jobs. He impacted how animation gets made. How it gets edited. How its get delivered and viewed all over the world. For that we are deeply grateful. We will miss animating you, Steve.
