Fair warning - I'm not even sure if I win the mission. And I sidetrack myself with a lengthy anecdote. But hey - the internet is already clogged with boring videos of people doing it 'properly'. I'm not even kidding - I love to take the piss on Youtube, but the actual thing was rather sad. Do yourself a favour and watch A Night To Remember. If this was a streetfight, Night To Remember would be a gang of 50 tough bikies, and Titanic 1997 would be Helen Keller with a migraine. There's no argument here, so save your breath. One of the movies is about the passengers - the other movie is about James Cameron. One of them has good acting. The other has Passions set on a boat. The 1997 had some fanging sets though - as a Titanic Nerd I absolutely loved the sets. But let's face it, there are reasons the old movie didn't have that stuff. In 1958 the money wasn't as plentiful and the people who owned the ship plans weren't playing ball because they were still embarrassed by the disaster. Talk about holding a grudge! One might get the impression that I didn't really like James Cameron's movie. It really wasn't bad on the occasions where it focused on the interesting shit. What boggles my head is that he had a shipful of 2000 people that were more interesting than Jack and Rose, and he still felt the need to set the story around those two instead. Ah well. A billion bucks can't be wrong, can they? Anyway, I tried to get the ship to sink via iceberg collision, but Silent Hunter 3 didn't play ball. Basically, you visit these two swinger friends of yours who are going through a rough patch. It is OBVIOUS that they want a little more than just cocktails, but as soon as you put the moves on, they panic. I didn't find out until after I recorded this that you can actually kiss Jason and Carmen (okay I can't remember the character's names, sue me). And also you can choose the name Sergio. I regret not making this selection. I like the idea of open ended games like this, but the execution is always so fucking shoddy. I would rather the clunkiness of text-to-speech talking to me rather than poorly thought out pre-arranged dialogue. Having said that, their SketchUp apartment is kinda neat and I like the ability of messing up their decor (you can move stuff around on the shelves). Being thrown out of the building for doing NOTHING AT ALL was a huge, huge disappointment though. I'm going to play this a few more times, maybe David can do better.
